The idea of Bermuda shorts always brought me back to a specific moment in middle school, where these shorts were the sole province of slightly nerdy girls whose moms refused to buy them the short Abercrombie shorts that were all the rage.
Top: similar linen blouse here from Nordstrom // shorts: similar distressed style here from Sam Edelman // shoes: similar style here from ASOS // bag: Chanel boy bag
However, I recently rediscovered the style and realized that part of my distaste was that I had been wearing them all wrong: instead of a baggy style that sits at the hip and hangs off the body without any thought to being figure flattering, try a high waisted style that nips in your body, with a slightly rip or distressing to keep the shape from being too boxy. In addition. pair with a cropped top to emphasize the division of top and bottom. To help your legs look extra lean, try a chunky sneaker that adds height without sacrificing comfort.
If only my middle school self could see me now, bet she’d think I look (a little bit) cooler!
